April was SCM's first outing to pick up trash along our 2 mile stretch of Highway SCM Adopted. After finally getting our signs put  up and getting our gear from the state, we headed out with smiling faces to improve our community. We gathered 33 large bags of trash and 9 large bags of Recyclables .

Our next Trash pick up is June 28th. We will meet at the same location after our monthly breakfast.

Even the Stokes County Militia takes a little break every once and awhile.

The Stokes County Militia Yearly Camp out was another success, of course its always a great time. The Trip down the Dan River is always my favorite. Some of the members stayed behind to attend the grill for the Big Feast Sat evening. Darrell out did himself again and managed to fill a lot of bellies and still have enough leftover to feed everyone 2nds.

WE WILL NOT STAND DOWN !!!!!

With a Very Successful Gathering of the Militias. The Stokes County Militia moved closer to their goals and making good on our Mission Statement.

SCM MISSION STATEMENT:
Educating Americans on the role of the modern day Militia. We are dedicated to eliminating the stereotypes that have tainted the patriot movement for the last two decades. We are dedicated to lawfully reconstructing a culture of civic responsibility by reorganizing readiness groups and militia networks. We intend to work to enjoin our legislators and Governors to enable our effort via statute. We must make ourselves heard at the ballot box and then we must hold those elected accountable for their actions. We believe that the will of the people needs to be returned to the forefront of legislative action.

The Militia stands ready to help the community in times of crisis. We will assemble in the time of need, whether it is an act of God or an act of war we need to be prepared to fend for ourselves and to help our community. The Militia is determined to stand firm against any attempt to disarm the people. The Militia believes in community first.
........................................................................................

During this weekends event an important and powerful step was made. With the heads of the varying North Carolina County Militia's at the round table, the foundations were laid for the establishment of the Southern Coalition of Militias. Currently representing 7 Counties in North Carolina", we set forth our plan to not only unite North Carolina Militia groups but Militias of the Southeastern part of these United States.

Our future is bright as Patriots commit themselves to preserving and Defending the United States Constitution and the communities in which we live.

Thank you all for your support.

The Father Son event was a huge success...thanks to The McGee Family for hositng it. Thanks to Donnie Hedgecock for sharing his knowledge on edible plants....After a cold night camping in the wind and a good early morning breakfast, participants got to take a gun safety course, then they were involved in team building scenarios that included building a fire, and shelter for the group out of what could be found around ( the wreckage of a plane crash site) also got the chance to identify and taste some edible wild plants, and witness a man eat a raw crawlfish(desperate measures) also got to shoot pistols, rifles and shotguns....great day with a great group of guys and Fathers took time to show their sons some of the basics about being Men....Outstanding event.

Meet the Militia Event a great success at the American Legion Building in King March 30th

     As the crowds began to gather at the American Legion  building in King, SCM members were quickly putting the finishing touches on their latest Public Relations Event. Billed as " Meet the Militia",  Group organizers wanted to provide the General public with a chance to come out and meet the members, to ask any  questions or relay any  concerns they may have in the community. The event went off without a hiccup. With guest speakers such as Sheriff Mike Marshall, Commanding Officers of two other County Militias, Live band and concessions, the adults stayed occupied while the kids tried their aim at the Air Soft booth, Testing their skills and learning Gun Safety. The Stokes County Militia would like to thank our community for their support and our pledge to support and Defend them is guaranteed with the oath of each S.C.M. Member who comes into our ranks.

 The event brought Citizens from several other counties looking to learn how they can start their own Militias in their perspective counties. Seeding the foundations of other County Militias in North Carolina is a project SCM took on in the fall of 2012 and have had great success so far. Two of such seeded groups, the Triangle Area Militia(T.A.M.) and the Surry County Citizens Militia (S.C.C.M.) joined us , as we spread the words of wisdom our forebears graced us with many years ago," A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed "  It is plain to see, Americans are concerned in the direction their country is taking and are stepping up to do their part

SCM travels to Wilkes County to rouse local Patriots there......

On Feb. 21, Stokes County Militia members traveled to Wilkes County for a scheduled meeting with area Patriots. Mike Marshall spoke in front of approximately 150 Local Patriots on the importance of an unorganized County militia. The gathering was very receptive to Mikes message and we fully expect Wilkes to follow suite as some of the other Counties in-which SCM has rallied Patriots and worked with locals to start their own County Militia's.

As with Past  Meetings, other possible counties were present and themselves interested in holding A meeting in their Counties. Some of these included, Yadkin, Ashe, Allegheny and Caldwell.

The Spirit of 1776 is certainly alive and well in the state of North Carolina and local communities, state wide, are the beneficiary of Patriots stepping forward and strengthening their Counties.

The Surry County Citizens Militia publicly announces its formation

Tonight (Feb.1st) The Surry County Citizens Militia publicly announced its formation at a gathering of 100 plus local Citizens in Pilot Mountain. With assistance from the Stokes County Militia,Travis Dull started off the meeting giving some details as to his vision for SCCM in Surry County. Mike Marshall followed with detailed discussion of what the militia is past and present, and why its so important in our communities today.

 Rest assured, SCM will be working closely with SCCM Leaders in getting them prepared in all phases of running a modern militia.

Our duty as citizens:

Most American citizens are aware that the U.S. Constitution guarantees certain rights and limits the powers of government. However, it also imposes certain duties, not only on organs of government, but on each citizen. One of these duties is to function as members of the Militia, and the state has the duty to organize and train citizens to so serve.

The U.S. Constitution provides for this in Article I, Section 8:

Congress shall have power ...

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

The Framers contemplated that the citizens who compose the Militia would provide their own weapons, which is reflected in the Second Amendment:

A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Are you and your family prepared?

Most Americans travel with a spare tire and jack in the trunk, and at home they may have band-aids in the medicine cabinet and a couple of weeks worth of toilet paper and yet few Americans are prepared to deal with any number of potential life threatening scenarios that could literally play out in only a matter of hours.

What's to be concerned about you might ask?

* Medical emergencies

* Food Shortages

* Fuel shortages

* Black Outs

* Natural Disasters

* Riots

* Chemical/Biological attack

*  Martial Law

 WE BELIEVE IT IS BETTER TO MAKE A PLAN YOU NEVER NEED THAN TO NEED A PLAN YOU NEVER MAKE.

What Can you do ?

Make a Kit:

You may need to survive on your own after an emergency. This means having your own food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity to last for at least three days. With the possibility of all utilities being down, dont plan on them being available.

Make a Plan:

Your family may not be together when disaster strikes, so it is important to plan in advance: how you will contact one another; how you will get back together; and what you will do in different situations.

Be Informed:

There are important differences among potential emergencies that will impact the decisions you make and the actions you take. Learn more about the potential emergencies that could happen where you live and the appropriate way to respond to them.
